About — Anand Sivadasan

Built by operating, not observing.
For two decades, I’ve built and scaled businesses at the intersection of payments, financial services, commerce and technology - from Fortune 100 companies to startups.
Introduction
I’ve spent my career turning opportunities into businesses.
My work has spanned product, strategy, partnerships and general management across Capital One, Citi, Goldman Sachs, startups and PayPal.
Across those experiences, the common thread has been building: identifying an opportunity, designing the business model, bringing together the right partners and products, and turning the idea into something that operates at scale.

Citi
Helped lead major consumer financial services partnerships, including the acquisition and transition of the Costco credit card portfolio and expansion of the American Airlines card portfolio, two of the largest card programs in the world.
Capital One
Started in data and analytics before moving through product, business development and corporate development—building businesses and partnerships across cards and consumer financial services.
How I work
Strategy is most useful when it can survive contact with execution.
Find the real problem
Start with the customer, economics and structural constraints, not the previous answer to a case.
Build the business, not just the product
Product, distribution, economics, partnerships and operations have to work together.
Move between strategy and tactics
The best operators can move from a boardroom question to the mechanics of execution without losing the thread.
Create leverage through ecosystems
Many of the most valuable businesses are built by aligning incentives across companies, customers and partners.
Today
What I’m building now.
Today, I’m exploring what comes next across financial services, commerce and technology - developing new business models, sharing ideas openly and working with others to bring the strongest opportunities to life.
Through Das Nexus, I combine the perspective of an operator with the freedom to explore, design and build what could come next.
